Contact Lenses After LASIK
After you get LASIK surgery, your vision won’t be perfect right away. On average, it usually takes a few months for your eyes to fully heal and for you to experience perfect vision. So it’s usually recommended, depending on how bad your vision was to begin with, that you were glasses or contacts until the adjustment is complete.
Some people fear it may be harmful for their eyes to put contacts in after LASIK, and that fear isn’t without justification. In fact, pre-fitted contacts could in fact be damaging to eyes if you resume use after surgery, mostly because the surgery has drastically “re-shaped” your cornea, and therefore most likely won’t fit like it’s supposed to. The solution is to get special contact lenses, specifically designed for post-surgical use.
