Nearsighted/Myopia
People who are nearsighted, that is, suffer from myopia, have difficulty seeing objects that are at a distance. Myopia is sometimes so severe that people have difficulty seeing objects up close, as well. People who are myopic (suffer from myopia) must wear corrective eye glasses or contact lenses to be able to see objects clearly.
Many people who are nearsighted can now opt for LASIK eye surgery, a type of laser refractive surgery, which eliminates the need for glasses or contacts. During LASIK, a special computer that is guided by the surgeon, the cornea is smoothed out with surgical flaps, allowing for much clearer vision.
LASIK, LASEK or PRK laser eye surgery can also correct farsighted/hyperobia vision.
