What to Do Before LASIK Eye Surgery

Following your initial LASIK eye surgery exam, you will know if you are a good candidate for LASIK surgery. During your appointment, which may take from 60-90 minutes, your eye care professional will perform a complete ocular exam and general medical history to determine your general health. The ocular exam may include: eye chart

• Corneal thickness and topography
• Manifest, auto and high resolution refraction
• Refractive readings
• Pupil measurements
• Pupil dilation
• Explanation of LASIK surgery techniques, preparation and follow-up

If it is determined that you are a candidate for refractive eye surgery, your ophthalmologist and his/her team will discuss with you the exact type of surgery that will most benefit you. You will then be able to schedule your LASIK surgery and be one step closer to great vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses. You will also be given instructions on what to expect after LASIK.
